The Improv Bandits return to the beloved Bats Theatre in Wellington and look forward to hijacking Christchurch for the first time

The 1999 International Laugh Festival

The Improv Bandits performed in the festival playing at both the SiLO Theatre in Auckland and premiered at Bats Theatre in Wellington.

Melbourne International Comedy Festival

The Improv Bandits rock late night Melbourne for four weeks in their first visit to Australia.




Chicago Improv Festival

25 April - 30 April. The Improv Bandits perform as a showcase act in the prestigious Chicago Improv Festival, home of improvised comedy.



The Big Stinkin Comedy Festival

In April 1999, The Improv Bandits represented by Wade Jackson, Jason Webb and Tony Gilbert invaded Austin, Texas for the BS 4 Festival.

It was a massive experience that saw The Improv Bandits workshopping and playing alongside some of the biggest names in improvisation.



After 2 days of no sleep, Wade, Jason and Tony at the US/Mexican border.

Highlights included:
  • All three members being asked to audition for the US Drew Carey hosted Whose Line Is It Anyway? television show.
  • Auditioning for an HBO sketch comedy show
  • Leaving a keg party at 3am to drive down to Mexico to buy a cowboy hat, bottle of tequila and 8 foot bullwhip after traveling 30 hours with no sleep!
  • Meeting Randi, Daysun, Deana, Ed, Tamara, Lisa, Mickie, Karen, Summer, Candice, Sean, Dan, and so many other talented and awesome people.
  • Wade's Farrelly Brother's produced Jim Carrey film audition
  • Tony winning the All-Star Invitational Micetro Tournament
  • Making front page of the Austin American-Statesman newspaper (3 cheers for Hank!)
  • Performing at the prestigious LA Improv Comedy Club
  • Not being shot after accidently venturing into LA gangland
  • Wade's Hercules Viking episodes being screened while in Texas (and being recognised!!)
