Improvisation is theatre of adventure, you must gladly step off that cliff

The Art of Improvisation is a skill-based workshop series aimed at all levels of proficiency from the absolute beginner right through to the advanced improviser.

It's a weekend workshop that teaches the necessary skills that are required to improvise. Improvisation is the key to freedom for everybody as it enriches personal development and allows you to awaken the artist within us all.

The workshops are open to everyone with a maximum of 12 participants per workshop. This is to ensure the quality of the programme and there are discounts for block bookings and concession rates apply.

Improvisation skills are probably the most valuable tools a performer can possess and they are especially of benefit to all actors, comedians and writers of today.

The Art of Improvisation introduces the basic skills of this theatrical art form, developing listening skills, yielding, focus, group work, spontaneity, and narrative story telling ability. It goes on to look at performance technique and discovering the comic motor within the short form games. Scene work and methods of characterisation are taught and the workshop deals with taking these skills into dramatic performance. The workshop teaches the essential tools that you can then take to any performance including short and long form improvisation plus scripted dramatic theatre.
